Boo! It’s a season of tricks and treats and we are in full celebration mode. Besides stuffing our faces full of candy and picking out award-winning costumes, we also love to visit our favorite haunted houses and spooky corn mazes. Fortunately, the options in Utah are endless with family-friendly fun and scream-inducing haunted houses. Here are our top five must-visit Halloween haunts this season.
1) Cornbelly’s. Voted one of the top ten corn mazes in America by USA Today, Cornbelly’s is located in Lehi, Utah at Thanksgiving Point. The options for kids and adults are endless with everything from kiddie mazes and games to Insanity Point which has featured insanely terrifying haunts for 22 years. Plus, catch Utah’s only Halloween musical fireworks show every Friday and Saturday at 8:30 p.m. through the month of October.
2) Nightmare on 13th. Scaring guests for 28 years, Nightmare on 13th has been featured several times on the Travel Channel, USA Today, Buzzfeed.com, and Hauntworld. They work year-round to create new and frightening sets for each Halloween season and this year will take you to a darker side. If you are ready to brave this haunted house, you can find them at 320 W. 1300 S. in Salt Lake City.
3) Castle of Chaos. Whether you are here for the fear or just for the fun, this is the haunted house for you. Castle of Chaos offers four levels from level one where monsters will stay away from you to level four where anything goes, including picking you up and restraining you. If you’re ready to brave the chaos, visit them at 7980 State St. in Midvale, Utah.
4) Frightmares at Lagoon. Your favorite Utah amusement park turns frightening for the season. Fun for the whole family, Frightmares offers “no scare zones” and two kid-friendly houses. If you’re not attending with children, you can choose from the seven haunted attractions. And when you need a break from the frights, all of your favorite foods, rides, and games will still be open. Lagoon is located in Farmington, Utah just off I-15.
5) Peterson Family Farm. If you’re looking for a wholesome family outing, visit this fifth-generation family farm. You will get all the excitement of a farm, including meeting farm animals, riding a tractor, and running through the corn maze. Plus, they have a huge selection of pumpkins in various shapes, sizes, and colors. Peterson Family Farms is located at 11887 S. 4000 W. in Riverton, Utah.
