It’s very rare to find someone whose favorite task is to clean their car. The process can take a long time, and can definitely be a struggle. Our best suggestion is to clean often so the dirt and trash doesn’t build up. We’ve come up with our top 10 tips to help keep your Toyota clean and organized.

1)    Wipe Down Surfaces

We suggest using baby wipes or wet wipes to clean all your surfaces. If you have leather seats, they will also work well to keep those clean. Be sure to clean up any major spills or sticky messes immediately.

2)    Use Tooth Brushes and Foam Brushes

These small brushes make it easier to clean all the nooks and crannies. Use these to clean out the cup holders, air vents, and any of the cracks on your dash.

3)    Take Out the Trash

Grab all trash items in your car every day when you get home. This helps keep the trash from building up and cuts down on cleaning time when you are doing the big car details. It also helps to keep a trash bag in your vehicle so the trash doesn’t get stuck in those hard to find places. They even have classy ones available that hang on the pocket on the back of your seat!

4)    Use Organizers

Depending on your needs and how many people are using your vehicle, use organizers to keep your car items all in one place. You can find over the seat organizers from your local store with many options to fit your needs.

5)    Remove All Items From Vehicle

The best way to keep your car in order is to remove all extra items daily. If you bring a coat or extra clothes in the morning, make sure you take them with you when you get home.

6)    Keep Your Important Documents in Order

The glove box is a great place to keep any documents that you may need while driving. You should keep your most recent registration and insurance information, as well as records of service. This way you will always have the most important information at your fingertips.

7)    Use Food Containers

Keep crumbs in check by using food containers for your kid’s snacks. Make sure the food is easy to access so they don’t end up spilling while trying to grab from bags. When spills happen, vacuum as soon as possible so the crumbs don’t add up. Portable car vacuums are also available to purchase, and can be stored in the vehicle in case of urgent accidents.

8)    Take it Through the Car Wash

It’s easy to keep the outside of your vehicle clean with all the car washes in the area. If you’re looking for deals, keep your eye out on Groupon and Living Social for coupons. Or buy a monthly pass so you can get a wash anytime you need!

9)    Keep it in the Garage or Covered

The easiest way to keep your vehicle clean is to keep it out of the dirtiest areas. If you’re able to keep it in a garage or covered spot away from the elements, your vehicle will remain cleaner longer. If you do park outside, stay away from trees where leaves are blowing off as those will collect all over your car.

10) Keep Your Windshield Wipers Clean

A great way to keep those streaks away is to wipe down your windshield wipers with rubbing alcohol to prevent a smeared windshield. Always be sure to keep your windshield wiper fluid full as well.

While you won’t always be able to maintain that new car smell, you can keep your car smelling fresh and looking amazing if you’re cleaning it often and using a little air freshener.
